Sarah is a fiction writer, of both novels and short stories. Her short fiction has been shortlisted for the Asham Award, the Bridport Prize and the Fish Prize. Born and raised in Canada, Sarah’s homeland provided the inspiration for her debut novel, The Mountain Can Wait, a story of fathers and sons set on the Canadian prairies. She has said: 'I’m a sucker for the characters of Cormac McCarthy and Annie Proulx, taciturn men who are hard and dusty on the outside but full of passion within. I wanted to explore these elements'. The novel has garnered widespread praise, being described as 'genuinely moving', 'vivid' and 'gripping'.
Sarah now lives in London with her husband and three children, and teaches creative writing in prisons.
